Kennedy's solutions will help solve these Broward County problems:
#1. Now there is no Constitutional officer as Public Trustee representing the people. The incumbent enables the Power Brokers and Lobbyists wishes instead.
#2. The incumbent Clerk of Court's employees, 6 years ago were forced to be all "At Will" employees; which means they can be fired without cause or warning ! Democratic values , "checks and balances", and civil rights have been destroyed! Employee morale is very depressed. The services of the Clerk's office for our citizens and Judges are poor! Educated, experienced and professional Managers have been fired or forced out and replaced with low performing, with only political experience(with high school degrees or a G.E.D.)Administrators without professional education or credentials. The Florida Constitutional Duties of the Clerk of the Circuit Court are ignored! The people of Broward County have no one protecting their needs, priorities, and the majority vote ! Kennedy will change this !
#3. The Broward County Downtown Fort Lauderdale Courthouse has the most expensive and NIGHTMARISH PARKING problems.($8/$10/$12 hr.- $60./day. Especially for the average working person the parking rates around the Courthouse are outrageous , and parking for the disabled and seniors are the worst ! Bev Kennedy pledges she will lead to change this!
#4. There are 3 other Broward Courthouses (West(Plantation), South(Hollywood), & North (Deerfield Beach)). All three are under- utilized and are not in the plans for renovation and expansion; yet the 20 year bond funding was renewed without public hearings or public vote to pay only for the Fort Lauderdale Courthouse. The three other regional Courthouses have free parking, easy handicap & wheelchair accessibility and 100% newer in ground infrastructure! Bev Kennedy promises we will use the Florida Supreme Court Mandated Electronic Filing to bring all Court Services to all Courthouses for the people and legal community . Kennedy's Strategic Plan has helped get the Electronic filing system under the authority of the Florida Supreme Court instead of lobbyists!
Why Should We Care ?
Political risk and loosing the political clout of Broward County compared to Dade and Palm beach Counties is growing every day! The lack of professional management, engineering & auditing oversight services for our County and Courthouses, and the lack of working men & women Civil Rights destroys our County's reputation . New businesses and Government services job seekers go to Dade or Palm Beach and pass up Broward County because of the lack of job security. Also, as a result, the hard working middle class families move out of Broward.
We now have 26,000 empty Public School seats this year! We are loosing State funding ! Layoffs and empty stores increasing!
Beverly Kennedy, a Democratic leader offers 35 years of public Trustee service and award winning financial, business, not- for- profit & governmental management experience. 1. Kennedy served on the Florida State Board of Professional Engineers; as a Governor appointed, Senate confirmed, public trustee Board member. Kennedy was trained and certified to do the State Board Accreditation of the University of Miami and University of Florida, Schools of Engineering & Technology with the National A.B.E.T. Board ( 1st woman) (3.5 YEARS)
2. Bev Kennedy served as a consumer trustee for Broward County as a Broward Mayor appointed official on The Consumer Protection Board. (1 year)
3. Kennedy also has been a Board Trustee and Executive Board officer of the Fort Lauderdale Police and Fireman Retirement System.Trained and certified by NCPERS, San Antonio, Texas as a Public Employee Pension System Executive Board Trustee (1.5 years)
4. Beverly Kennedy served as a (over 10 years) Trained and certified as an Arbitrator trustee for the the Securities Industry (NASD) now FINRA.
5. Kennedy also served as a trustee in the development and management of Public Education as a Board Trustee of the 1st Broward County Accredited, "A"- rated public Chartered School. (5.5 yrs.)
6. Beverly certified in retirement planning and public employee benefits, retired as a financial adviser six years ago. Yet, Kennedy recently completed 25 credits of Continuing Education (Sept. 2011), and 32 credits three years ago, (including a Fl. State Ethics course). Kennedy,also completed a 2 credit course at the Broward Bar Assoc. on Elder Law, Nov.15, 2011 and Nov.22nd, a 1 and a half credit course on employment law & financial experts.Also, a 2 credit course on E-filing for Probate & Guardianship completed Nov.29th, 2011.
Completely independent from Lobbyists influence, Kennedy does not accept Lobbyists or consultant's political contributions or funraising services.
